Since January 2023, the industrial estate in Geisa has welcomed a new addition: GNV GmbH (formerly GN Schweisstechnik) and its 15 employees moved into their new high-tech production facility on around 1,250 m² in the Gewerbepark Mitte.
The family-run company from Eiterfeld develops and produces components for tapping geothermal energy and is therefore pursuing a major mission:
“The energy crisis presents us all with major challenges. At the same time, climate change is progressing ever faster and its effects show that life on earth is under serious threat. The use and further development of renewable energies is therefore of immense importance. This is the reason why we have decided to make geothermal energy accessible and usable as an efficient energy source with our work,” says Sandro Neumann, Managing Director of GNV.
Over the last 18 years, the company has established itself as one of the leading manufacturers in Europe. Thanks to its own product and tool development, GNV GmbH is already the world’s fastest producer of geothermal components. The company has even developed its own robot to fully automate the special welding and processing methods used in the manufacture of geothermal and ice storage manifolds.
“Our industry is still not mature enough for technical standards to exist. At the same time, demand in the geothermal energy sector is constantly increasing. That’s why we are improving and developing our production every day. Our robot took 3.5 years to develop and is the first machine of its kind in the world. We have succeeded in completely automating work processes and being able to react more quickly to changes in the market. We are currently able to cover almost 20% of the German heating market,” says Neumann.
Due to the enormous order situation, there are already plans to expand the site in Geisa. The company itself also relies on renewable energy to generate power: the entire plant is already supplied 100% by geothermal energy. A photovoltaic system with 200 kW and three wind turbines with 1 kW each are also being planned. The aim of GNV GmbH is to generate more energy than it consumes.
“With our geothermal heating alone, we consume less energy than an average detached house. This not only protects our environment. We are also gearing the entire company towards the future so that we can operate independently. In this way, we secure sustainable jobs and apprenticeships in the region.”
The company plans to create more jobs in several areas and become an attractive employer and training company in the region. The company is currently looking for support in production. Part-time jobs and flexible working hours are also possible.
“As Managing Director, it is important to me that the team feels comfortable. That’s why I want to create jobs that have a future and are compatible with family and leisure time. Anyone who wants to work in a skilled trade and make a contribution to society is welcome in our production facility.
Renewable energies will become increasingly important in the future. And only together can we succeed in driving forward the energy transition,” concludes Neumann.
Geisa’s mayor Manuela Henkel congratulated them on moving in and wished them every success at the location in the Rhön town.
