Political visit to GNV: Dr Franziska Brantner learns about innovative geothermal technology for a sustainable energy future

We recently welcomed a distinguished visitor to GNV: Dr Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, was our guest to find out about the latest developments in geothermal energy and sustainable energy technologies. This political visit as part of a know-how transfer between business and politics provided a valuable opportunity to present GNV’s innovative approaches and to discuss the challenges faced by medium-sized companies in the field of renewable energies.

Pioneering work in geothermal energy: sustainable use of geothermal energy as a key technology

Dr Brantner was given a comprehensive insight into GNV’s unique geothermal technology, which was specially developed for the production of distribution systems for the efficient tapping of geothermal energy. This innovation has not only brought the company into the focus of the industry, but has also secured it a place in the final of the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s Future Prize. The technology demonstrates the enormous potential of geothermal energy for sustainable energy supply and plays a key role in reducing CO₂ emissions and conserving valuable resources.

Thanks to advanced geothermal technology, GNV is able to utilise geothermal energy efficiently and sustainably – an important prerequisite for implementing the energy transition in Germany. The focus here is on a resource-conserving and low-carbon energy supply that can compete with conventional fossil fuels.

Political framework conditions for the expansion of geothermal energy

During the visit, Dr Brantner and the GNV representatives also discussed the current political and economic framework conditions that are necessary to promote the expansion of renewable energies and geothermal energy in particular. They discussed how political initiatives and funding programmes can support medium-sized companies that want to invest in forward-looking technologies such as geothermal energy.

Dr Brantner was impressed by the innovative and sustainable solutions that GNV has developed. She emphasised: ‘It is inspiring to see how companies like GNV are creating forward-looking solutions with their innovative geothermal technologies, not only economically but also ecologically. The exchange helps us to better understand and address the specific needs of SMEs.’

Challenges facing SMEs in the geothermal sector

Despite the positive response to the technology, SMEs in the geothermal energy sector continue to face various challenges. These include bureaucratic hurdles, insufficient funding opportunities and access to financing. GNV uses these political discussions to draw attention to the urgently needed changes in geothermal subsidisation and thus support the expansion of renewable energies as a whole.

‘We must ensure that companies developing innovative technologies such as geothermal energy receive the necessary support to implement their solutions in practice. These technologies are essential for achieving our climate targets,’ added Brantner.

Outlook: Geothermal energy as a key technology for a sustainable energy future

Dr Brantner’s visit once again highlights the importance of dialogue between business and politics. Only through close co-operation can innovations in the field of geothermal energy and the energy transition be effectively promoted. GNV is proud to make a contribution to a sustainable energy future with its innovative geothermal technology and to play a pioneering role in the German SME sector.

‘We feel encouraged and motivated by the recognition from politicians to continue working on our vision: to advance geothermal energy as a key technology for a sustainable energy future,’ emphasised Sandro Neumann, Managing Director of GNV, after the visit. ‘The direct dialogue with politicians and the opportunity to present our concerns and ideas in person is a valuable step towards tackling the challenges of the energy transition together.’

Conclusion: GNV as a pioneer in geothermal energy

With its innovative technology and clear vision, GNV GmbH remains an outstanding example of the future viability of German SMEs and a leading provider in the geothermal energy sector. Geothermal energy offers enormous potential for the energy supply of the future, and GNV is ideally positioned to play a decisive role as a pioneer in this key technology.
