When physical advantages make the difference
International geothermal projects place particularly high demands on technology, logistics, and cost-effectiveness. Solutions that work locally quickly reach their physical and economic limits when project volumes increase.
The GN X is increasingly demonstrating that an intelligent, consistently well-thought-out design can overcome these limitations — and also makes the product attractive internationally.
The current project in the UK confirms exactly that.
The challenge of large-scale international projects
The planned geothermal project in Bristol requires an infrastructure that must achieve three things simultaneously:
- Very high number of probes
- High mechanical resilience
- Cost-effective implementation across transport, installation, and operation
Traditional spiral pipe or concrete shafts fulfill some of these requirements, but not all of them at the same time.
This highlights a key problem in the market: Load capacity is often still determined by material mass.
The GN X: High load-bearing capacity without mass
The GN X takes a different approach. Instead of weight, it relies on an intelligently statically optimized design with proven statics. The high load-bearing capacity is not a theoretical value, but has been proven by tested type statics. The GN X achieves a load capacity of up to 40 tons without relying on massive concrete structures or oversized wall thicknesses.
The result:
- Trafficability up to 40 tons
- Load class B125
- High safety without massive structures
This performance combined with significantly lower weight is a decisive advantage—especially for international projects with complex logistics.
Less weight = lower transport and construction costs
Transport is a key economic factor in international projects. This is where the GN X really comes into its own:
- Significantly lower dead weight than concrete or spiral pipe chambers
- Less transport effort
- Easier handling on the construction site
- Less excavation due to compact design
All in all, this significantly reduces transport, construction, and assembly costs – an argument that is becoming increasingly important in international tenders.

Scalability as the key
The customer opted for the following design for the project:
- 8 × GN X4 with 60 probes each
- 1 × GN X4 with 62 probes
- plus 3 Pipe Winding Chambers
Total: 542 geothermal probes
This number shows how efficiently the GN X structures large probe fields — with fewer chambers and clear technology.

Technical implementation in detail
The GN X chambers were technically designed as follows:
- GN X4 with 60 or 62 probes
- Probe diameter: DA 40 mm
- Main distributor: DA 160 mm
- Ball valves: DN 25
- Flow meter: 5–42 l/min
- Flow: with shut-off valve
- Return: DN 150 Crane DM 941 line control valve
- Load class: B125
This configuration enables precise control, high operational reliability, and long-term ease of maintenance.

Why there is currently no comparable product
The GN X combines features that were previously unavailable in a single product:
- High load capacity up to 40 tons, type-tested
- Proven statics through type statics
- Low dead weight despite high load class
- High number of probes per shaft
- Reduced transport and construction costs
It is precisely this combination that makes the GN X unique on the market – and explains why it is increasingly being used in international projects.
The load capacity of the GN X up to 40 tons is based on tested structural analysis calculated for 50 years, even under unfavorable load conditions, and offers planners and builders maximum safety—even for international projects.
THINK X – Design instead of mass
The GN X stands for a clear philosophy: Better design, not more material, is the key to high-performance infrastructure. This way of thinking is internationally understandable – and the reason why the GN X opens up markets instead of having to adapt.
Conclusion: A product with international relevance
The project in the UK shows that the GN X is not only technically impressive,
but also offers economic and logistical advantages that are decisive internationally.
GN X – One chamber. All loads. THINK X.
